SCVC would have to really do poorly not to pull this out. Considering neither they nor BDB were at finals 2019, I'll have to put an asterisk next to Spartans's win. That aside, this looks to be 3 in a row for SCVC.
No. The asterisk is rude, disrespectful , and uncalled for. In 2019 Spartans beat everyone that showed up. Those kids worked their tails off and put together an awesome program. It is not their fault two groups did not attend. We have to be better than this nonsense.
yes I did. I am hardly the first person in history to assign an asterisk to denote special circumstances. It doesn' t automatically devalue it.. that is YOU assuming it is meant to denigrate. You're responsible for your own erroneous conclusions, not I. But I can guarantee that a widespread poll of DCI members being complete honest would have the vast majority feeling like an asterisk is a reasonable thing. Fine, they beat everyone that showed up.. That doesnt change the fact that they DID NOT BEAT the two juggernauts of that division that year. And they hadnt beaten them before, and now after that year. THAT is absolutely worthy of a special notation.
Gold is just giving it their all right now. Certainly a couple quick rough moments though. They'll need to have Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets to have a flawed run if they are going to hope to get their namesake tonight.
Sorry I haven't been around much tonight y’all. Work and family things are fun. I will say after a bit of a touchy start this feels like a solid performance from Gold, but will it be enough for them to take gold? We’ll see
Hmmm , do you think corps using field tarps of whatever nature should try to make them non reflective? Not a problem in LOS, but outdoors, different story under night lights
Gold really has had a truly amazing season. They've taken great strides to get where they are today. Some mixing issues at the beginning but they got that fixed quickly.
Sadly, the holes in the visual are very noticable and could really hold back their visual score. But in regards to the round platforms, the yellow side reminds me of a wheel of cheese. Mmmm. Cheese.
I really enjoy the composition and execution of BDB, but those poles.. wth? And the circle platforms leave me all "meh" after BK unveiled the new psychedelic versions of theirs.

A very good performance! It didn't quite feel like the coronation I was expecting but I do think they will be our champions tonight.
And the Vanguard 'V' comes out of the cymbal line as the Corps brings the crowd to it's feet! Superb performance!
I feel the lead up to 'Johanna' drags a bit long without much but then I love this for a ballad.
Their unique marching technique really standsout in those uniforms. Very exposed but they are doing it so well.
This definitely feels like it is SCVC's to load at this point. That opening statement from the percussion and brass were on point!

Plenty of issues inside the stadium when they are non reflective as well. Trust me.

BDB has so many tremendous players. It's hard to find a weakness in their brass tonight. Great solos in the ballad.

They look a bit more sturdy than some wooden ones I've seen built but can see your point lol. At least they're metal imo.
