while they've done a lot of different crowns over the years, I truly love this pure Logo one the most, ESPECIALLY thrown into the most powerful closer of the night, maybe season
HMm that is more than a simple Z pull this year, makes me think more of a hamster wheel, but BAC needs to take notes: THAT Is how you do a proper company front... Twice.
Southwind would round out the top 6 and advance to Semis if these were the Prelims scores. Genesis and Jersey Surf would be the only two World Class corps left out.
The Cadets were very strong tonight! I was expecting a new ending for the hometown crowd, but looks like they're riding with the original product to the end of the season....but who knows, they may still throw in a surprise next week....
My god , that flowering Mandala chokes me up every time,.. One of the most impactful closers I can personally remember. I dont think SCV music is getting the credit it deserves this year.. That glorioulsy beautfuil opening, and then the dynamic volume shifts are just amazing.
Thought Vanguard was great! That new ending is really growing on me. And seems like a few people are trying to get some Vanguard yells thrown in. Hopefully they stick for finals week!
THink there's any deeper meaning to the 4:40 to 6:30 time shift? Also, crowd not sure what to do with that new soft close for Cavvies.... It was like a large collective.. Huh? "Are we supposed to clap NOW, or earlier?" LOL
gotta love that harpsichord version of that Bach Fugue to open the show! Also, I think Phantom and Cavvies have both given us the most powerful "wall of sound" effects this year. #FriendlyNeighborhoodRivals
Cavaliers have been on Blue Stars' heels the past week, scoring within about a point every night. It will be huge if they can get closer than that tonight. But keep in mind, Cavies have also been going back and forth with Mandarins as well. A lot of tight spreads in the 7-10 grouping all season long.
It's really impressive to see how much this group has improved over the course of the season, especially with all the turmoil and turnover that they had during COVID
I wonder just how distant a cousin Mr. Nick Putnam is, given that ALL Putnams originated from one family that came to Salem, Mass in 1630 on 3rd Mayflower voyage.
Crossmen are in a very interesting spot score wise coming into tonight's show. They have the benefit of performing after Blue Knights and Colts performed last night. Essentially, they need at least a 84.3 to hold onto 12th place for seeing purposes for prelims. If they can manage a 85.3 though, they can move into 11th ahead of Colts.
also, that Cellist was ALL THE WAY on top tonight! #NervesOfSteel. Have you seen the humorous info going around about Troopers having named their giant prop "Derrick The Voracious"?? THey even gave him his own FB page. And that he available for sale immediately after Finals? LOL
It's not even the best use of social media for props over the past few years! I heard that Boston's walls from Goliath actually had their own profiles on dating apps!
now that I think about it, Crown needs to do that for their #GiantOrangeCatToy I would love to see how the anthropomorphize and personify it. Because 6 weeks in I'm still scratching my head. I do love it's use in the final phase, rolling thru the rank/columns to become the centerpiece of the rottating star.
Did the Allentown crowd love Troopers more than Madison.....? Both crowd reactions were awesome though. Seems like those two shows have definitely been the favorites of the night so far.
After their adventures to outer space in 2019, Troop has come back to earth and struck oil. Their visual program has to have taken one of the biggest leaps of any corps on a caption and subcaption basis since 2019, but I'll defer to my colleague @MarchingArtsBTN on the exact stats.
It's very true. Troopers only scored above a 24 in Visual once in 2019, during semifinals. In 2022, they've already broken that threshold 4 times a full week before finals.
that phase with the gold covering their eyes (brilliant metaphor) and the Oil Sunburst are both just "Chef's Kiss" touches. Given the inherent criticism of voracious oil usage/moneygrubbing, it will be a bit awkward seeing that in Lucas OIL Stadium <snort>
A notoriously fickle crowd, the Allentown show has some of the most experienced fans in the activity. I've had the pleasure of performing there before, and one of the highlights of the season was getting a standing ovation there.
Scouts vs Troopers will quietly be an interesting match up to watch tonight. Scouts scored above Troopers on Wednesday though they were at separate shows. The two corps have gone against each other only 3 times this season, all at shows in Texas.
FYI: Order of appearance at the DCI World Championship Prelims (August 11 in Indianapolis, IN) will be based on the reverse order of finish of scores averaged from events in San Antonio, Atlanta, Winston-Salem, and Allentown. Open Class participants will be seeded in the first blocks of performing corps based on reverse order of finish from Open Class Championship events. In the event a corps is not scheduled to appear in a major regional event, their last score received prior to that regional event will be used for averaging purposes.
This is absolutely one of the coolest concepts and designs of the year, and this corps has made massive additions and taken huge leaps and bounds from where they started this year.

What a fantastic night of shows! It's amazing how far every corps has come this season, and we're in a real treat for finals next week.
Just a reminder. As soon as scores are up, we're starting our live twitter space over at https://twitter.com/GenEffectMedia
Crown ! There are no words!!!!!!
There are four words actually. Right Here. Right Now.
I thought it was six words...
THERE! ARE! FOUR! LIGH....errr I mean WORDS! /shoutout to Star Trek geeks. RIP David Warner.
Does anyone remember the last corps to play this? (without looking it up)
The Jenkins?
Yup!
It's no Yeah! but it's hard to find a stadium crowd that wouldn't sing along to Sweet Caroline.
HMm that is more than a simple Z pull this year, makes me think more of a hamster wheel, but BAC needs to take notes: THAT Is how you do a proper company front... Twice.
We're discussing it on Bring It In tonight, actually. Got some #InsiderInfo about yesterday's BAC run
and? can you share?
It's in the podcast and that will be posted hopefully today!
Avon Lake scores!
1 Spartans 79.450
2 Southwind 75.950
3 Legends 74.500
4 Louisiana Stars 72.050
5 7th Regiment 70.400
6 Raiders 68.900
That does put Spartans at the top of Open right now!
Spartans, SCVC, Gold, BDB, & Guardians are your current Top 5 based on scores in Open Class!
Southwind would round out the top 6 and advance to Semis if these were the Prelims scores. Genesis and Jersey Surf would be the only two World Class corps left out.
Only one choice for Crown's preshow tonight, let's see if they surprise us though...
Billy Joel' "Living here in Allentown"?? As depressing as the lyrics are? <grin>
It's too iconic to pass up (apparently not though)
Crown was "wicked smaht" knowing there were a ton of Boston fans here tonight!
The Cadets were very strong tonight! I was expecting a new ending for the hometown crowd, but looks like they're riding with the original product to the end of the season....but who knows, they may still throw in a surprise next week....
Also we should be getting scores from Avon Lake any minute!
Audience getting up to their feet at the Closer company front for Cadets, definitely supportive of the hometown corps.
Nothing like a good few sets where you get to lay down on the field.. Makes rehearsals just a bit more bearable.
My god , that flowering Mandala chokes me up every time,.. One of the most impactful closers I can personally remember. I dont think SCV music is getting the credit it deserves this year.. That glorioulsy beautfuil opening, and then the dynamic volume shifts are just amazing.
Now it's time for a performance that this audience looks forward to all year long.
Thought Vanguard was great! That new ending is really growing on me. And seems like a few people are trying to get some Vanguard yells thrown in. Hopefully they stick for finals week!
STAR SET LET'S GO BLUE STARS
Seems like Blue Stars are having a very strong run so far
Correct me if I'm wrong but they've never placed higher than 8th since their return to the top division of DCI, yes?
Really clean, Guard adds so much to the show!
That's correct!
Not sure that'll hold true for long.
THink there's any deeper meaning to the 4:40 to 6:30 time shift? Also, crowd not sure what to do with that new soft close for Cavvies.... It was like a large collective.. Huh? "Are we supposed to clap NOW, or earlier?" LOL
Probably something that the designers think is cute and fun, but none of us will understand until it gets explained in an interview somewhere.
PFFFT. Designers... what do THEY know? <snark>
You make an excellent point 😉
ConeTreadmills and Swirling Clock Hands are two truly brilliant prop effects this year.
gotta love that harpsichord version of that Bach Fugue to open the show! Also, I think Phantom and Cavvies have both given us the most powerful "wall of sound" effects this year. #FriendlyNeighborhoodRivals
That opening statement is really something right?
Yep. both of those two corps melt your face right off before you even know what hit you!
Tik Tok (on the clock) time!
my one pet peeve about Cavvies this year? The pendulum should swing both directions (insert stupid joke here).

I never got to see that, since I didnt find Flo until this year

How many of y'all have caught the pun in the Crossmen's show title, re: the big props?
Mobius Trip, vs Mobius Strip, the name for the type of circle where a half turn is made in the course of the circle in the strip.
Did the Allentown crowd love Troopers more than Madison.....? Both crowd reactions were awesome though. Seems like those two shows have definitely been the favorites of the night so far.

TROOOOOOOOP!
excited mom, what can I say... So glad that they are back in full force.
Proud, Loud and Pleasing the Crowd! Allentown loved Madison!
A notoriously fickle crowd, the Allentown show has some of the most experienced fans in the activity. I've had the pleasure of performing there before, and one of the highlights of the season was getting a standing ovation there.
WAS THAT MALAGUEÑA?!?!
Scouts vs Troopers will quietly be an interesting match up to watch tonight. Scouts scored above Troopers on Wednesday though they were at separate shows. The two corps have gone against each other only 3 times this season, all at shows in Texas.
The composer of this tune, Dolan Sipes, was cut from his audition from the Scouts. Years later, they're playing his music on the field!
This hornline is finally starting to crank.
That guitar player is a delight to watch every night. He was a star for them in 2021 as well.
Him going absolutely ham during Bangkok is one of the coolest moments of the year IMO
Gotta love Risky Business...
Is that white tarp new in Scouts' show?
My sources tell me they wanted to put it in earlier, but it was raining in Atlanta
I think that was a good call myself, because doing a show with a tarp for the first time when it's wet outside would've been... Risky Business.
That silence is the perfect part to bring out a shark next week...
Multi-cam operator might need to be checked on. There was a wild shift there!
AHHH the Tilt reference!!
"Welcome.....to the Void" - LOVE that moment
I imagine that is what Leonard was saying to Nichelle a few days ago in the great dark beyond...
Do you think this show could be called A Drum Corps Fans Fever Dream?
Maybe A Drum Corps Prop Crew's Worst Nightmare!
Seems like it would've been more appropriate earlier in the show. But what do I know, I'm not a judge like J. Missing!
Good evening
Are you at the show tonight?

This pre-show is definitely one of my favorites of the year!
This is absolutely one of the coolest concepts and designs of the year, and this corps has made massive additions and taken huge leaps and bounds from where they started this year.
I am curious if their tarps will have massive glare like SCV did when they used them a few years ago...
And the Blue Devils' dice!! Man, I have missed so many additions
When did they add the Drum Corpse Bride tombstone?
Are those tarps new in PC's show?
