San Antonio may be over.....but there's two more Open Class shows still going on! Nearly every DCI corps is performing today. It's that time of year and it's AWESOME.
Also quickly gonna promo @band_scores really quick. It's run by the great MarchingArtsBTN and the bot that scrapes for scores on it definitely beat the announcer to them at least once this week.
Also not enough talk about how BD is using bits of the Dune soundtrack in this show. The same soundtrack that won Hans ZImmer his first Oscar since 1994. #stats
Final show of the evening, let's go Blue Devils! A couple interesting notes here. 1) Blue Devils have have not won in San Antonio since 2017. 2) Every year since 2009 that Blue Devils have entered San Antonio undefeated, they have won San Antonio, and then gone on to win finals. Will history repeat itself this year?
My favorite term for them is baseball stat (the greatest example imo is "he's got a .3 ERA when it's cloudy on a Tuesday afternoon in July") and they're the best
I wish they stayed in the crown form or maybe condense it down into a filled in crown pushing forward instead of dissolving into a blob push. I get it's for emotion but.... Just a preference thing.
I do love that crown final movement.. that wall of sound buildup is AWESOME combined with the Crown logo and ending.. Then they hit you in the face with a spitball with that yelling ending. TOTALLY unnecessary and shocks me out of the moment I just had. TRUST ME KIDS, WE ALREADY KNOW THE WORDS, we dont need you screaming them at us again!

I have BD sweeping except percussion which goes to SCV imo. That said, I think Blue Stars guard gets 5th tonight! My wild prediction.

Tonight? 3. Crown, 2. Boston, 1. BD, but crown might be ahead, maaaaaaybe. At the end of the season? Same, but I think Bloo can jump crown.
It’s a very close race between those three for sure. One minor slip up could cost one of these corps a major disappointment.
IMO Bloo has the highest ceiling, Boston has the highest floor, crown has the best performance but the worst show
i’m a big crown fan but i’m not a fan of their show this year. their performance is amazing but the whole concept is meh.
I've felt the same way about the design since they lost the staff to Boston. Every year to me it looks great conceptually but misses the mark
