Who Are We?

Here at General Effect Media, we offer content made by Performing Arts Die-Hards for Performing Arts Die-Hards. GEM was founded to give you access to all of the information that you could ever dream of about the performing arts, whether it’s scores, recaps, stats, analysis, or rankings put together by our hand-selected team of experts. We’re also here to offer you on-the-spot analysis of performances, deep-dive articles, editorials, and breaking news as it happens.

For years, the Performing Arts, whether it’s DCI, BOA, WGI, State Band Circuits, or any other organization that showcases and celebrates the great shows and great performers we all know and love, has lacked a central gathering space for performers, staff, and fans to stay informed, entertained, and engaged. You deserve nonstop coverage from the first corps at DCI Tour Premiere in June until retreat at WGI Finals in April, and we’re here every step of the way.

In addition, we have podcasts, video content, and long & short-form articles covering every topic in the performing arts as well as staff updates and behind-the-scenes peeks for organizations at every level of the activity, as well as mailbags where we solicit questions and thoughts, and our panel of experts gets to give you unprecedented access into the activities you love so much. We also want to provide designers, directors, judges, and others in the performing arts a platform to connect directly with the community, in their own words.

Why are we doing this? Everyone at GEM loves the arts and has been deeply involved for years. We want to spread our knowledge, passion, and fandom to help create a more informed and engaged community.
