TMC features a Prelims/Finals style show, so the first group, Hutto (TX), will be there for check-in at 7:30 am CT, with a performance time of 9:30 am. The first block features former Grand National Finalist Leander (TX), as well as Hendrickson (TX), who will be making the trip up to Indy this year.
The next block has one of the year’s big surprises so far in #21 Round Rock (TX) as well as #15 Vista Ridge (TX). Both programs impressed at the BOA Austin Regional this year and are heavily favored to make the night show. Additionally, there are hidden gems for the non-locals sprinkled around, with Tom C. Clark (TX), Weiss (TX), James Madison (TX), and Sandra Day O’Connor (TX) all scheduled to perform in the first two blocks. Each are strong programs that tend to get overshadowed by their neighbors; however, they are worth your time.
Following the lunch break, the hits start coming, and they don’t stop coming. The last two blocks are full of BOA Regional Champions, as well as Super Regional and Grand National Finalists. The programs that will catch the most attention are #10 Ronald Reagan (TX) and #5 Vandegrift (TX); however, don’t miss Winston Churchill (TX)’s Mister Rogers show or McNeil (TX)’s production “With My Own Two Eyes.”
GEM will have staff at the Texas Marching Classic from beginning to end, and if you’re going, don’t be afraid to say hi! It will be a great show and a superb weekend for band.
