Introducing the bandScores 2023 BOA Scores Dashboard
The newest resource for the 2023 Bands of America season and all of your score and number needs
Following the release of our popular 2023 DCI Scores Dashboard this past summer, we are excited to announce that the 2023 Bands of America Scores Dashboard is now live via our partners at bandscores.net! You can check it out here.
The new dashboard already contains over 300 scores and recaps from all shows and rounds from the first three weeks of competition in the 2023 BOA season. Throughout the fall season, check back regularly as new data will be added following weekly Bands of America competitions. Although the pages do not update in real-time, expect new scores to be added on Sundays (subject to the availability of recaps on the BOA website).

How does this dashboard differ from other score resources on the internet? By dynamically combining data into different pages, scores from multiple shows are shown in single views, allowing for simple sorting by different captions or overall scores. Filters on the pages also allow users to view data by specific criteria, such as classes or bands from specified states. If this is your first time using a bandScores dashboard, familiarize yourself by checking out the “Intro & Glossary” page or by simply clicking “how to use this dashboard” in the upper right corner on any page.
Another cool feature to check out is the “Current Rankings” page. This page lists every band that has competed at a Bands of America event so far in the 2023 season and ranks them by highest score, regardless of round or date. Although scores are not necessarily comparative between shows, this page is a fun view to see how bands have been scoring throughout the season. Additionally, a column indicates if a band will be participating at BOA Grand Nationals in November, as well as an “adjusted score” column. Adjusted scores are calculated to compare scores more evenly by adding points based on when a band’s highest score falls in the season.
NOTE: Adjusted scores are not an official metric recorded by BOA and are calculated merely for entertainment value. Adjusted scores have no effect or value in determining how a band may score later in the season.
More about bandScores
Launched this past summer, bandScores is a passion project with the vision of being the primary resource for competition scores and data in the marching arts community. While similar websites and resources exist in the community, many focus on only one activity within the marching arts. The goal of bandscores.net is to collect and make available as much score data as possible (both for current and historical seasons) for all activities. Additionally, through dashboards and web apps, data is made as dynamic as possible by allowing users to easily compare scores across different ensembles, competitions, years, and more.
In addition to pages for the drum corps and marching band activities, bandScores also hosts 2023 WGI dashboards made earlier this year for the winter guard and indoor percussion activities. Future projects include record books for all activities, historical score dashboards for WGI, Bands of America, and adding more data to the existing DCI historical score dashboard.
Continue to check the dashboard and bandscores.net for updates and new features throughout the season. If you have feedback, want a new feature to be added, or have a new project idea, don’t hesitate to let us know! Happy number crunching, score, and data nerds!
