October has arrived; margins are shrinking, and some of the biggest names in marching band are starting to make their move.
This week, the GErMs break down another huge weekend of competition nationwide. Carmel sweeps BOA Kentucky, Tarpon Springs dominates its first major Florida contest, and Rouse and Cedar Park finish just 0.025 apart at the Vista Ridge Marching Festival. Plus, Pearland survives Westlake by only 0.275 at BOA South Houston, while Dobyns-Bennett, Jenison, Rosemount, Hebron, Ronald Reagan and more add their names to a rapidly developing national picture.
We’ll also unveil the latest National Rankings, check the hand in Team Texas: Hold ’Em, take the temperature with Hattie’s Heat Index, and find out who survives this week’s Chair Test.
And in DCI news, The Battalion and Gold are officially moving to World Class in 2027. We’ll look at what their promotion means, and why DCI’s developing pathway from SoundSport to Open Class to World Class may be an even bigger story.
The scores are climbing. The margins are shrinking. October is here.
